The Rev. Dr. Bob Kaylor to Speak at the WCA’s 2019 Global Gathering

The Wesleyan Covenant Association is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Bob Kaylor will deliver an address as its Fourth Global Gathering at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
“Bob Kaylor is one of the most courageous leaders I know,” said the Rev. Dr. Jeff Greenway, Chairman of the WCA Council and Senior Pastor at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. “His presence on the WCA Global Council has given us a very helpful and important perspective. He has served his entire ministry as an orthodox, evangelical minority in an overwhelmingly liberal, progressive context by holding fast to the historic Christian faith. He has done so with a gracious and irenic spirit, and by remaining historically and theologically grounded. I am honored to have him as a colleague and a friend.”
Kaylor’s presentation, “God, Our Creator” is part of the Gathering’s “Transformed” theme. The event is expected to attract thousands of United Methodists across the connection.
An elder of the Mountain Sky Annual Conference, Kaylor is the Lead Pastor at Tri-Lakes United Methodist Church in Monument, Colorado. In 1986 he earned a Bachelor’s degree in history from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Indiana, Pennsylvania). He also served for ten years as an infantry officer in the Army National Guard. He graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in 1995, and later earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury in 2012. His doctoral dissertation on planning for clergy transitions became the basis for his book Your Best Move: Effective Leadership Transition in the Local Church. It has been widely used by churches across the country. Since 2004 Kaylor has been a senior writer for the preaching publication Homiletics. He also published the Advent study Come to the Manger and contributed to the Cokesbury Daily Bible Study Series and The Upper Room Disciplines.
“We are very blessed to have Bob make a presentation at the Global Gathering,” said the Rev. Keith Boyette, President of the WCA. “Bob is a pastor-theologian in the finest tradition. He reads widely, writes well, and delivers messages that nourish our hearts and minds. People are going to enjoy his message and be enriched by it!”
Kaylor is native of western Pennsylvania, who now lives in Colorado. He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 32 years and have two adult children, Hannah and Rob. Bob loves reading history, playing the drums, and hiking in the Colorado mountains.
