Youth and Young Adult Ministry with Steve Rankin and Caleigh Smith

February 18, 2021

Youth and young adult ministries will be a vital and growing part of the new Methodism. In this episode Bob and Stephanie talk with Dr. Steve Rankin, chair of the WCA Youth and Young Adult Task Force, and Caleigh Smith, who directs youth ministry at Bulverde UMC in San Antonio, TX, about plans for ministries with youth, college students, and other young adults including resourcing for leaders and advice for churches who want to engage in meaningful, disciple-making relationships with young people.

I serve as Executive Director of the Spiritual Maturity Project, a ministry some of us have recently started. For 25 years I worked in higher education as a professor and chaplain and before that as a pastor. I love to help people grapple with big and basic questions to grow into real ,grown-up Christian discipleship.

I ruminate on all manner of theological, biblical, historical, and cultural topics. I believe followers of Jesus need to be more like members of Issachar’s tribe, able to read the times
